James (Jim) Alvis Reed, 85, passed away Sunday, August 16, 2026.
Service: 10:00 A.M. Friday, August 21, 2026 at White’s Azle Chapel, Azle
Interment: 3:00 P.M. Friday, August 21, 2026 at Detroit Cemetery in Detroit, Texas
Jim was born August 8, 1941 in Detroit, Texas to Bill Johnson Reed and Mary Kathryne Holloway Reed. He attended schools in Paris, Texas graduating from Paris High School and East Texas State in Commerce.
Jim had many wonderful memories of growing up and hunting with his Dad and grandfather. His grandmother was so special to him he loved her dearly. Jim often spoke about her owning a café in Detroit.
He married Shirley Dacus September 15, 1980, they had many wonderful years together. Jim loved living in the country where they had lived for 46 years enjoying all of what nature had to offer. Jim was employed and retired from the United States Postal Service. Before working for the USPS Jim worked at LTV Aerospace and was a tool maker, for the development of the B-2 Bomber.
Jim's hobbies included raising pure bred chickens, he had several different kinds that he showed.
Jim was a very good Christian man and attended church for many years until he became disabled. He was very compassionate and tender-hearted. He never judged people and was kind to all he knew no matter what walk of life they were in. Jim enjoyed being with people but never boastful. Was known for praying for those in need.
Jim was survived by his wife, Shirley Reed; sons, Craig , Jeff, Billy, Danny and Richard; grandsons, Will, Conner, Daniel, Dane, Nicholas, William and Matthew; several great-grandchildren
