Irene Roel Keegan

Irene Roel Keegan, a cherished wife, mother, sister, aunt, grandmother, great grandmother, and friend, passed away on April 25th, 2022, at her residence in Weatherford at the age of 88. Born on November 27, 1933, in San Antonio, Texas, Irene was the fourth child of her parents, Fidel Roel Sr. and Clemencia Roel. She met airman Gary Norman Keegan in San Antonio, and the two married on January 3rd, 1957. They had two daughters, Brenda Keegan Cook and Sharon Keegan Woolard. After living in various cities and countries, including Germany, Gary and Irene settled in the DFW area in 1972 and made Weatherford their permanent home in 1999. Irene was a determined, kind, and generous person who loved music, dancing, and spending time with her family. She was an exceptional wife and mother. Irene was very proud of her daughters and three grandchildren, Nick Cook, Brittney Pote, and Alexa Woolard, and three great-grandchildren, Makayla Pote, Charlie Pote, and Jordyn Cook. She touched many lives over the years, and her family and friends miss her dearly, especially during Christmas, her favorite holiday. A celebration of life was held on May 21, 2022, at the home of her daughter, Brenda Cook. Brenda and Sharon express their gratitude to all those who came from near and far to honor Irene's life. They would like to offer special thanks to Jeannie May, who took excellent care of their mother and continues to take care of their father, Gary. Irene is survived by her husband of 65 years, Gary Norman Keegan; daughters, Brenda Cook and husband Ron of Weatherford and Sharon Woolard and husband Gary of Aledo; and her brother, Fidel Roel Jr. of San Antonio, Texas. She is preceded in death by her sister and best friend, Sarah Shelton of Chicago Heights, Illinois, and her brother David Roel of San Antonio, Texas
