On Thanksgiving morning, Ingrid gained her wings after a courageous battle with Pancreatic Cancer. Throughout every obstacle and hurdle, she continued to shine bright.
Memorial service: 2:00 p.m., Wednesday, December 3, 2025 at White's Chapel, Springtown.
Ingrid was a shining light of positivity to all who met her. She loved the Lord and her family deeply. During her retirement years, she enjoyed spending time with her wonderful husband, children and she loved traveling, hiking, and anything outdoors. She was a busy body that could not sit still. She especially loved animals, and they loved her right back (most of all her dog, Dexter). By default, over the last several years she also became an avid chicken farmer (they showed up, she fed them, and they never left). Prior to retirement, Ingrid worked at Texas Health Harris Methodist Hospital in Fort Worth Texas for 20 years in the OR and she loved what she did. Caring for others was second nature to her. She was a certified EKG tech and had an undergraduate degree in nursing from Belford University.
Above all else, she was a constant reminder to be the salt of the earth and light of the world and that faith the size of a mustard seed could move mountains.
She was preceded in death by her late husband Virgil (Jerry) Taylor Jr; brother, Horst; father, Wolfgang; mother, Erika; and father-in-law, Virgil Taylor Sr.
Survivors: Her loving husband James (Jim) Allen Smerud; children, Shelly (Mike) Hunt, Kim (Robert) Broom, Jimmy Smerud, Stefanie (Tim) Nietert, and Shelley Isbell; grandchildren, Talon, Ian, Nathan, Ryan, Reagan, Kayleigh, Kirsten and Austin; great granddaughter, Isabella; mother-in-law, Charletta Taylor (Mom-Taylor); She also had an amazing extended family of cousins, nieces, nephews, and siblings.
