Hortencia Martinez Loggins

Hortencia Martinez Loggins, a beautiful lady of Biblical love transitioned from this worldly life into a heavenly life to be with her Lord and Savior on Monday, November 27, 2023, after a long battle with Alzheimer’s disease. During her life she touched the lives of her family and many friends as no one else could. The visitation will be held at White’s Funeral Home in Weatherford on Friday, December 1, 2023 from 6:00 - 8:00 PM. The funeral service will be held at White’s on Saturday the December 2, 2023 at 10:00. Burial will be held Monday the December 4, 2023 at Central Cemetery at 2:00 PM. In lieu flowers, please make a donation to the Connect Camp for Adults with Dementia at 1305 Russell Bend Rd, Weatherford, Texas 76088 or go on the website www.connectcamp.org Hortencia, otherwise known as Beve, was born as Hortencia Martinez in Melvin, Texas on March 28, 1932 to Rita and Felix Martinez, making her leaving this world at 91 years young. After graduating from high school, she attended Draughn’s Business College and eventually was employed by the United States Postal Service where she worked for 25 years. After retirement from the Postal Service, she became a mail deliverer for Weatherford College and then was employed by Bridgeport High School as a computer lab specialist for 10 years. In 1990, she married Charles Loggins in Eureka Springs, Arkansas. They met while taking dance lessons at Lavonnia Bella Dance Studio in Ft. Worth and were best friends and dance partners for 14 years before they married. They moved to Charles’ family farm outside of Weatherford in 1992 and started raising Beltie Galloway Cattle and a large produce farm, concentrating on blackberries and peaches. In 1998 Hortencia had a stroke which resulted in neural surgery to relieve spinal fluid pressure. After two years of hospital stay and rehabilitation Charles and Hortencia opened the C & H Dance Studio to keep her active. It ended up being a very popular studio with over 1000 students taking lessons, doing wedding dances, and other special events. However, in 2015 she was diagnosed with Alzheimer’s and started declining in health till her death. She is survived by her husband, Charles; and two daughters, Sylvia Teems and husband, Mike, and Tracie Benson; one son, Jason Benson; and many nieces, nephews, cousins and many, many friends.
