Guy "Larry" Guess

Guy “Larry” Guess, age 78 of Lipan, Texas passed away Monday, November 13, 2023. Celebration of Life: 10:30 a.m. Saturday, November 25, 2023 in White’s Chapel of Memories, 130 Houston Ave., Weatherford. Graveside Inurnment: 2:00 p.m. Saturday in Evergreen Cemetery in Lipan. Memorial contributions may be made to Mission Arlington in Arlington, Texas, UT Southwestern Hospital in Dallas, Texas or The Cancer Society. Larry was born December 24, 1944, in Weatherford, Texas to Guy and Pauline (Martin) Guess. He married Kay Ward on August 4, 1967 in Lipan, Texas at First Baptist Church. They shared 56 wonderful years together. He was a devoted husband, loving father to their three kids and adoring PaPa to their eight grandchildren. Larry enjoyed traveling with his wife, wood working, golfing, singing, hunting, listening to old gospel music, building and fixing anything, watching the Dallas Cowboys, working on the Ward farm with the goats and cattle and riding around the farm with his grandkids. He did many things because he never liked to be still and always had to keep busy. Larry always loved doing and giving to others. PaPa loved watching his grandkids do their sports, band, singing, archery, golf, plays, performances, etc. Larry loved reading his Bible on the back porch and having his prayer time while watching the deer eat the corn he had put out for them. Larry worked in the flooring business for 56 years with many wonderful coworkers and friends. He definitely knew everything about flooring and was an amazing salesman. Larry was preceded in death by his parents, Guy and Pauline Guess; two brothers, John Guess, and Randy Guess; and his daughter-in-law, Sue Guess. He is survived by his loving wife, Kay Guess; daughter, Shonda Holcomb and husband, Terry; sons, Chad Guess, and Brian Guess and wife, Angie; eight grandchildren, Mikayla Holcomb, Landry Holcomb, Hunter Guess, Cheyenne Guess, Emily Rupert, Tayden Guess, Aubriana Guess, and Amaya Guess; and a host of nieces, nephews and lots of friends.
