Gus Gene Brazeal

Gus Gene Brazeal, age 80, loving husband, father, grandfather, brother and son passed away at home, Thursday, July 21, 2022 in Azle. Memorial Service: Date to be determined. Gus was born April 30, 1942 in San Angelo to Gus Lamar and Jennie Vane Smith. Gus served our country through the Air Force and the Army National Guard. He was an expert marksman and met the love of his life while working as a DOD in DaNang, Vietnam. There he married Walene and had four children before returningto the United States and having their fifth child. Gus spent the majority of his lifeworking at Bell Helicopter and GD, which would become Lockheed. Outside of work, Gus enjoyed writing short stories and partnering with his wife and other clubs to teach Judo and Jujitsu. Through his Jujitsu and Judo club, he touched the lives of people who learned life saving techniques that will live on long after he is gone. Just celebrating fifty-four years of marriage, Gus will be missed most by his wife, Walene Brazeal. He will forever be remembered for his willingness to share his knowledge and help those in need. Gus is preceded in death by his parents, Gus Lamar Brazeal and Jennie Vane Smith; sisters, Ruth Brazeal and Eilene Jones; brothers, Don Brazeal, and Ray Brazeal; and son, Joseph Brazeal. He is survived by his wife, Walene Brazeal; son, Deric Brazeal and wife Jody; daughters, Nona Cherry and husband, Stanley, Wanina Harrison and husband, Bart, and Nita Shinsky and husband, Sam Rubin; ten grandchildren and 7 great-grandchildren, many nieces, nephews and friends.
