George Homer Thompson

Thelma Thompson. He passed away on April 8, 2024 at the age of 76. George
graduated from Santo High School in May 1966. He proudly served his country in
Vietnam as a seaman in the United States Navy from October 1967 to June 1973.
Later in life, his nephew and namesake George Porter followed in his footsteps
with a career in the navy.
George traveled many places during his time in the navy. He was later employed
by Xerox and Canon and continued to travel the world representing Canon as a
loyal and faithful employee.
George meant many things to many people. Everyone has fond memories of
times spent with George. One thing everyone can agree on, is that George was a
foundation and the connector for our family. We may not all keep in touch very
often, but George was just a phone call away for all of us. Everyone that knew or
spent time with George understood that he was a very intelligent man. But most
of all he was also someone that listened and cared.
George was known to take care of things. Need a lawn mower repaired, he would
figure out the problem and get it fixed up for you. Need some sort of car or
equipment repair, he would buy the book and figure out what the problems was.
The problem was fixed before you knew it.
Needless to say, George will be greatly missed by many people.
He is preceded in death by his parents-Bill and Thelma Thompson, Brother-Oliver
Savage, Brother-Luis Savage, Sister-Mary Black, and Sister-Ann Wolff. He is
survived by his one remaining sister Dollie Cummings and her husband Harvey of
Lipan. George had many nieces and nephews, great nieces and nephews, and
great-great nieces and nephews who loved him and will miss him dearly.
