Private Graveside Service: Saturday, August 27, 2022 at Woodland Park Cemetery, Mineral Wells. In lieu of flowers the family requests that donations be made, in Gary’s name, to your local church or favorite charity. Gary was born February 23, 1943 in Fort Worth, son of Harold Robinson Sr. and Louise (Huffman) Robinson. Gary attended Arlington State College on a football scholarship, and would go on to graduate in 1965. He majored in Biology with minors in Physics and Chemistry. Following his college career, Gary proudly and bravely served his country in the United States Marine Corps, retiring after 26 years at the rank of Lieutenant Colonel. He was active duty during the Vietnam Conflict, and was a pilot for the greatest part of his career. After his military service, he became a teacher and later a school administrator, which was a perfect fit for Gary because he had an inherent love for children. Gary met the love of his life, Mikell Pruitt and they were married on January 8, 1966. They would go on to spend 56 years together raising their family. Gary faithfully attended Phillips Chapel Church. While he had many interests, his family was his first love. In his younger years, he loved to garden. He had a great sense of humor and enjoyed sharing that humor with others. Gary is preceded in death by his parents; brother, Harold Robinson, Jr; son-in-law, Walter Griggs; and a granddaughter, Talitha Hope Griggs. Survivors include his loving wife, Mikell Robinson; children, Lorna Griggs, and Gary Robinson, Jr. (Mindy); grandchildren, Torey, Jonah, Lainey, Tessa, Rachel, and Samantha; brother, Scott Robinson; and a host of other extended family members and friends. Of all of the things that he will be remembered for, Gary will be remembered for his gentle spirit. He will be remembered as a tall southern gentleman and will be missed by all who knew him.
