Gary was affectionately known as "Crazy Gary" by his children's friends due to the many cars he owned, AKA Crazy Gary's Used Parking Lot. He proudly served his country in the United States Air Force. Gary attended the University of Texas at Arlington earning a degree in Electrical Engineering. His professional life was marked by significant contributions to numerous defense contractors, including Lockheed Martin where he was employed until his retirement in Willow Park, Texas.
Gary had an abundance of hobbies and took on each one fully and entirely, becoming an expert in growing orchids, owning, working on and showing antique cars, working on electronics and playing the piano. His favorite lifetime hobby was to build and fly radio-controlled airplanes. Gary was the president of one of the largest RC clubs in the United States and recognized by many fellow modelers.
He was preceded in death by his son, Dean Allen Cummings; and parents, Edgar and Vera Cummings.
Gary is survived by his wife of 60 years, Marian Brittan Cummings of Willow Park; his daughter, Julie Cummings Trott; and granddaughters, Peyton and Gigi Trott all of Orlando, Florida; son, David Allen Cummings of New Smyrna Beach, Florida; and son, Michael (Sharon) Morgan; and grandsons, Kyle and Connor Morgan all of Tucson, Arizona; his sister, Gayle Pate and Bobby Pate of Willow Park; as well as too numerous to count friends and relatives.
He leaves behind a great number of dear friends in this community. Gary never knew a stranger and loved to have fun and talk with all his family and many friends. He will be greatly missed by all but we take comfort in knowing he is home with the Lord and we will see him again!
