Garnett Lynette Collins

July 4, 1928 — April 6, 2021

Garnett Lynnette Dalton Collins, 92, was a loving mother, grandmother, and friend. She passed away on Tuesday April 6, 2021. Garnett was born July 4, 1928 in Casey, WV, daughter of David and Zipporah (Hensley) Dalton. Funeral Service: 10:00 AM Thursday April 15, 2021 at White's Funeral Home in Mineral Wells. Interment: 1:15 PM Thursday April 15, 2021 at Dallas Fort Worth National Cemetery. Garnett was bound to be taken from this realm, owing not to that utmost inevitability of life, but to her innumerable and rare qualities. Above all, she was a bastion of the most extraordinary human characteristic — empathy. That God granted her an extended life is to those whom she raised and loved and inspired, a gift. Garnett's unequaled hospitality comforted many friends and family alike. She was ever-prepared, a result of her altruistic and humanist nature. So many times she would enter the room, her arms full of just what you needed, or what you wanted. She loved animals, spoiling her beloved dogs and exemplifying human kindness in looking after orphaned cats. She could recast the smallest shopping errand into an adventure, often toward the goal of delighting her grandchildren, inspiring in them the tradition of giving. To her two sons, she was a devoted and protecting mother, standing in their corner always. As a devoted wife, she was a tireless caretaker and partner, an effortless and patient administrator of her husband's small business. She was a devout Christian, a self-taught painter, a lover of conversation, a planner — a remarkable woman. And she still is. We close our eyes and see her with us, seated at her kitchen table, as we harken to her joyful reminiscence of a shared memory. Garnett is preceded in death by her parents, and husband, David Collins, Jr.; brother, William Albert; sister, Virginia Thorpe; son, James Arthur Pulver. Survivors include, Son, David Collins and wife, Sharon; brother, Dave Dalton Jr, and wife, Donna; sisters, Wilma Jean Woodward, Janet Jones and Judy Simmons; grandson, Davey Collins and wife, Natasha; granddaughters, Cynthia Palmeri and husband, Austin, and great-granddaughters, Madison Hunt, Logan Palmeri and Carmilla Collins; great-grandson, Zachary Collins; and niece, Veronica Sheldon.
