Fred Carl Fox

February 25, 1942 — August 27, 2025

Weatherford, Texas

Fred Fox was born February 25, 1942 in Louisville, Kentucky, the fourth of seven children to Frank and Dorothy Fox. He passed away Wednesday, August 27, 2025.

In 1960, Fred joined the U.S. Air Force and was stationed in Amarillo, Texas and later sent to Carswell AFB in Fort Worth, Texas. It was there in 1961, that a blind date changed his life — he met the love of his life, Wanell Argo. They married in 1962 and raised two daughters, Deborah and Michelle, whom he adored.

Throughout his 20 years of Air Force service, Fred was stationed at bases across the country and around the world - including Carswell (TX), Little Rock (AR), Guam, Vietnam, Plattsburg (NY), Thailand, Laughlin (Del Rio, TX) and Altus (OK). After retiring from the Air Force in 1980, Fred began a second career with General Dynamics (now Lockheed Martin), where he retired after 28 years in 2008.

Fred had a lifelong love of classic cars. He and Wanell were past members of the Parker County Cruisers and traveled on road trips and to car shows in their 1957 Chevy. Many memories and lifelong friends were made along the way.

Those who knew Fred will remember his kindness, his steady nature and his willingness to help anyone who needed a hand or a little advice. He loved his family and friends deeply and lived his life to the fullest even through three battles with cancer.

Fred was truly one of a kind - a devoted husband, loving father and papa, loyal friend and a man who made life richer for everyone who knew him. He will be deeply missed and always remembered.

He was preceded in death by his parents; sister, Shirley Viers (Everett); brothers, Frank Fox, Jr. (Phyllis), James Fox, and David Fox; brother-in-law, Lew Franz; and grandson, Chase O’Glee.

Fred is survived by his wife; daughters, Deborah and Michelle Fox; grandson, Connor Fox Hubbard; sister, Linda Franz; brother, Mike Fox (Teresa); and many nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends.
