Frances Dethloff Shannon of Oklahoma City, OK passed away Friday, July 21, 2017. Services: 10:00 A.M. Wednesday at White’s Azle Funeral Home. Burial: Following the service at Cottondale Cemetery. Visitation: 6 to 8 P.M. Tuesday at White's Azle Funeral Home Lunch at the VFW in Azle, TX. A Memorial will be held in Oklahoma City the following week. Donations may be made to the VFW Auxiliary Post 2137, PO Box 1523, Azle, TX 76098 in Frances Shannon’s name in lieu of flowers. She was born in Boonesville, TX March 14, 1936. Frances was raised in Bridgeport, TX. She was a member of the Baptist Church. Frances married Wylie Armon Shannon in 1951. She became an Air Force wife and traveled to Maine, Alaska, New York & back to Texas where she became a Widow at 28. She was a hardworking, fiercely independent woman, bought a small farm & raised her 3 children in the country close to Azle, TX in 1964. She worked at the famous “Trammel’s Restaurant” for many years as a waitress and later as a bookkeeper until she retired. She raised all kinds of animals and had a large garden on her farm. Frances was expert rider & herded cattle when needed. She had been on horses since around 3 or 4 years of age. Frances traveled all over the United States. She took her children all over her beloved home state of Texas on vacations each year. Frances loved to two-step, play cards, bowl, and play dominos. She had that competitive spirit. She was a lifetime member of the Ladies Auxiliary of the VFW and a member of the Pickwick Book Review Club. Frances enjoyed going to Jewel Box Theatre, Festivals, gardening, spending time with friends & family, walking with her friends and her beloved dog “Penny”. Frances enjoyed life and was a pleasure to be with. Frances is preceded in death by: Husband, Wylie Armon Shannon; son, Michael Lynn Shannon; daughter, Marsha Ann Shannon Bell; companion, Robert Smith; father, Marvin Dethloff; mother, Jewel Evelyn Woods; grandson, Chris Shannon; sister, Claudia Thompson; great-grandson,, Caden Dean Wolfe. Frances is survived by: Daughter, Deborah Shannon & companion, Mory Enteshary; granddaughters, Tina Morris; Tobie Carnes, Tammy Wolfe, Frances Michelle Burke and Nichole Shadid; great-grandchildren: Madeline Morris, Ian Morris, Nathaniel Morris, Bailey Thrash, Carley Carnes, Gage Burke, Alex Burke, Christian Wolfe, Christopher Wolfe & Cade Wolfe; great-great grandchildren, Corbin & Courtlyn Wolfe.
