To Live Stream Service Click Here Eric Dean Wood, 56, passed away, unexpectedly, in the early morning of Thursday, August 10, 2023 in front of his family home, a place he dearly loved, one that had been in his family since 1953. Memorial Service: 2:30 p.m. Friday September 15, 2023 at White’s Funeral Home, Weatherford. Reception: Parker County Sheriff’s Posse Clubhouse, 2251 Mineral Wells Highway, Weatherford Eric was born in Dallas, Texas on July 6, 1967, to Clark Wood and Sylvia Sallee Wood, and attended High School at Martin High School and the Oak Ridge School. He earned his Associates degree from Weatherford College and went on to study Ranch Management at TCU. Eric was a country boy at heart, a true Texas cowboy who loved horses, dogs, country music, and rodeos. He also had a deeply religious side, loved studying the Bible, and dedicated himself to serving Jehovah God. Eric inherited from his father a remarkable ability to maintain calm under pressure, as well as his analytical mind, a kind heart, and a great talent for managing people. From his mother he inherited his passion for life, his sense of humor, compassion, and his love of animals. Family was immensely important to Eric. Growing up, he was especially close to his grandfather, long time Parker County Commissioner Jack Sallee from whom he acquired his affinity for the Western lifestyle, and love of rodeo. Eric went into the communications business with longtime friend Tanner Carter. From there he would go on to serve as a police officer with the Springtown Police Department, a deputy with the Parker County Sheriff’s Office, and most recently, Associate Publisher of Parker County Today Magazine. Eric was preceded in death by his grandparents, Jack and Drusilla Sallee, and Lowell and Alleene Wood; and his uncle, Mical K. Wood. Eric is survived by his parents, Clark and Sylvia Wood; his brother, Troy; his uncles, Kendall Wood, and Bill Sallee, and aunt, Kittie; his cousins, Stephen Wood and Gretchen; Paul Wood and Nancy; Joel Wood and Annette; as well as numerous extended family and many friends.
