Elaine Hall Layne, 79, went to be with her Heavenly Father and her children on Tuesday, October 10, 2023, in Weatherford, Texas. Graveside Service: 11 A.M. Saturday, October 14, 2023 at Long Creek Cemetery in Hood County. Elaine was born July 5th, 1944, in Booneville, Arkansas to Mary and Orvel Hall. Her family shortly moved to Lubbock, Texas while she was still a baby. Elaine met Wilbert there, married and gave birth to both their children, but eventually moved to Fort Worth, Texas to raise them. Once the kids grew up, Elaine and Wilbert resided on a ranch in Cresson, Texas while they continued owning race horses and jersey dairy cows. Elaine loved her family fiercely, and she strived to make each of them happy in their own ways. Everybody loved her home cooked meals and the hospitality she always provided. Preceding her in death are her children, Dinah Layne Aaron and Stephen Lee Layne; her parents, Mary and Orvel Hall; and her sister, Mary Smith. Survivors: Husband of 64 years, Wilbert Layne; sister, Virginia Ellis; grandchildren, Brittany Boner-Jones and husband, Sye, Chelcie Jessup and husband, Eric, Stephenie Layne DeLozier and husband, David, Troy Aaron, and Stephen “Bubba” Mele; great-grandchildren, Brayden McClendon, Erin Jessup, Shelby Mele, Austin Layne DeLozier, and Layton DeLozier.
