Graveside Service: 10 a.m. Saturday, September 21, 2024 at Memory Gardens of the Valley, 5600 Mineral Wells Hwy., Weatherford.
Memorials: In lieu of flowers the family requests donations be made in his memory to the Texas Pythian Home. Donations can be made on the website www.pythianhome.org or by check payable to The Texas Pythian Home, 1825 East Bankhead Drive, Weatherford, TX 76086. Please specify that the donation is in memory of Dudley Mooney.
Dudley was born on May 23, 1935, in Decatur, Texas and was the oldest of 10 children born to Mary Jo Louise (Hopson) and Harvey Madison Mooney. He was a successful businessman and rancher and a great storyteller. He loved living in Weatherford, dancing, teasing/joking, fishing, hunting, investing, reading the Wall Street Journal, playing dominoes, and eating strawberry ice cream. He touched many lives in his 89 years and will be dearly missed.
He was preceded in death by his parents; four sisters, Laura Brewer, Mary Hubbard, Nell Hess, and Virginia (Gin) Henry; and three brothers, H.M. (Tim) Mooney, Mart Mooney, and Michael Mooney.
Those left behind to cherish his memory are his former wife, Barbara Mooney of The Woodlands and their five daughters, Beverly Harmon and husband, Mike, of Granbury, Tina Waters of Fort Worth, Kerry Kee and husband, Dorman, of Granbury, Lisa Walker and husband, Troy, of The Woodlands, and Michelle Cardenas and husband, Juan, of The Woodlands; 13 grandchildren; 26 great-grandchildren; 7 great-great-grandchildren; his former wife, Patt Bartlett of Brenham, and his stepchildren, Ashley Moore Haile and husband, Bradley, of Hico, and Aaron Moore and wife, Miriam, of Georgetown; his sisters, Dana Elliot Williams of Runaway Bay, and Molly Crawshaw and husband, Glen, of Hot Springs Village, Arkansas; his sisters-in-law, Linda Freeman Mooney of Grandview, and Meridith (Moore) Mooney Rhine of Decatur; his brother-in-law, Larry Henry of Durant, Oklahoma; along with numerous extended family members and a host of wonderful friends.
