Obituary for a Beloved Husband, Father, Grandfather, Physician, and Friend

With deep sorrow and profound gratitude for a life beautifully lived, we announce the passing of our beloved husband, father, and grandfather, Dr. Sumant David Kumar, on March 28, 2026, at the age of 85.

Sumant was a man of integrity, quiet strength, and unwavering devotion to his family, faith, and the countless people whose lives he touched. His days were guided by purpose and compassion, marked by acts of kindness that were often unseen but always deeply felt. To his family, he was a steady presence, a source of wisdom, and a living example of what it means to lead with both heart and principle.

Born on November 25, 1940, in Hubli, India, he grew up with a profound appreciation for hard work and perseverance. These values shaped every chapter of his life. Whether providing for his family, mentoring others, or offering a listening ear, he did so with humility, dedication, and grace.

In 1970, he immigrated to the United States with his new bride, Sheela. They made their home in Weatherford, where he practiced medicine for 48 years before retiring in 2020. As a Family Practice physician and a pillar of the medical community, his compassion extended far beyond the walls of his clinic. He cared for generations of patients with steady hands and a listening heart, offering not only medical expertise but genuine comfort in moments of uncertainty. To many, he was more than a doctor; he was a source of reassurance, dignity, and hope. His legacy endures in the lives he healed, the trust he earned, and the love he shared so freely.

Sumant found joy in life’s simple blessings—time with family and friends, fellowship at church, and the quiet pleasure of following the stock market. He cherished traveling with his wife and close friends, exploring far‑off places and embracing the richness of cultures around the world. A passionate traveler, he visited nearly every continent, always returning home with new stories, insights, and gratitude.

He is survived by his devoted wife Sheela, his loving children Suneel and his wife Grace, Daniel, and Paul, and his cherished grandsons, Ayden and Tristan.

Though he is no longer with us in body, his spirit lives on in the lives he shaped, the values he instilled, and the love he gave without hesitation. His family will carry forward his strength, his kindness, and his enduring example.
