Dorothy Faye Higgins

Dorothy Faye Higgins passed away at home surrounded by family on Friday, December 16, 2022. She was 95. Funeral service will be held Thursday December 22 at 2pm at St John’s Episcopal Church Corsicana, Texas. In lieu of flowers please consider a donation to The Alzheimer’s Association. Dorothy, known as “Nanny” to most, was born February 25, 1927 in Fort Worth, Texas to I. E. and Ollie Dyer. She was the youngest of the family with three older brothers, William “Bill” Dyer, James “Paul” Dyer, and Robert Dyer. Dorothy married Hugh Sterling Gall in 1944 at the age of 17. She followed him across the country as he served in the U.S. Navy. Dorothy became a civilian employee of the military. When they returned home to Fort Worth, she studied accounting at TCU. Dorothy was a long-time employee in the accounting department of Bell Helicopter. She became the first female supervisor of a department at Bell. Dorothy and Hugh were blessed with two children, Hugh Eric Gall and Dotty Lynn Gall. They loved spending time together playing board games with family and friends, and enjoying their growing number of grandchildren. After more than 3 decades of marriage, Dorothy lost her beloved husband, Hugh to illness. She was fortunate to find another great love and later married Dr. William “Bill” Higgins, Jr. of Fort Worth. They enjoyed traveling and dancing together. She was a longtime volunteer of St. Joseph's Hospital where Bill was on staff. Dorothy was preceded in death by her parents; siblings; her husband, Bill; her stepson, Pat Higgins; her step daughter, Laurel Gleason; and her grandson, Hunter Freeman. She is survived by her children, Eric Gall and his wife, Sandy, of Waco; his children, including Erica, Hugh, Donna, Becky, Tracy, Matt, and Dustin; her daughter, Dotty Freeman of Corsicana; her children including Zack, Meredith Amber, Greg, and Kyle; stepson, Mike Higgins and his wife, Karen of Dallas; their daughters, Kerry and Libby; stepdaughter, Ann Higgins of Fort Worth; her children, Connor and Claire; Pat’s wife, Deborah; their daughter, Katie; Laurel’s husband, Pat; their daughters, Meaghan and Abigail; and numerous great and great great-grandchildren.
