Don Taliaferro of Springtown, Texas died peacefully at Holland Lake Nursing Center in Weatherford, Texas on Monday July 9, 2018 at the age of 80. Don is survived by his loving wife, Barbara Chilcutt Taliaferro; Children, Shannon Leigh Taliaferro Noblitt and her husband Carl; Todd Taliaferro and his wife Janae; Grandchildren Alexandra and Kane Taliaferro, and Zachary, Jennifer, and Nickie Noblitt; Siblings, Sam Taliaferro, Bill Taliaferro, Bobby Taliaferro and Nelda Mitchell. He is preceded in death by his parents, Cora and Ernest Taliaferro, brother, James Taliaferro, and infant sister Elizabeth. Don was born August 23, 1937 in Leon, Oklahoma to Cora Eakins and Ernest Taliaferro. He graduated from Springtown High School and in 1958 married the love of his life, and high school sweetheart, Barbara Chilcutt, in Springtown. Don was a natural salesman and lifelong dedicated follower of Jesus. He was a Deacon at the Springtown First Baptist Church, teaching many years of Sunday school introducing many people eternal life through the Lord. Other than his sweet wife Barbara, he had two loves: tractors and guns. He loved working his land and grading his road with his tractor. Don and his brother Sam spent countless hours building the new Springtown park utilizing his tractor. He was a physically strong and fit man, never looking his true age. His children remember him as a loving and protective father, teaching by practicing right from wrong. Visitation is set for Wednesday July 11 at White’s Funeral Home in Springtown from 6 to 8 PM. Funeral is scheduled for 10 AM Thursday, July 12 at First Baptist Church of Springtown.
