Donald Ray Martin passed away on Thursday, July 29, 2021 at the age of 75 in his hometown of Weatherford, surrounded by his family. His battle with serious medical issues in recent years showed his courage in facing life challenges with a smile and a firm handshake. Despite his many diabetic complications, Don fought fearlessly and stayed strong until the end. Funeral Service: 10 a.m. Tuesday, August 3, 2021 in White’s Chapel of Memories, 130 Houston Ave., Weatherford. Interment: Memory Gardens of the Valley, Weatherford. Visitation: 6 – 8 p.m. Monday at White’s Funeral Home. Don was born to Jeff and Virginia Martin on July 14, 1946 in Tyler. After graduating from Weatherford High School, he attended the University of North Texas where he received a bachelor's degree in Business Administration. In 1972, he married the love of his life, Deborah Edwards from Santo. Together they had one son, Don Martin Jr. Don worked at Jerry’s Chevrolet in Weatherford for more than 30 years managing the Parts Department. In his free time, he enjoyed “tinkering” on late model vehicles and going on evening drives with the windows down and the radio off, just to hear the purr of the engine. He loved animals, but was particularly fond of tossing the ball with his dogs after work while enjoying a “frosty” beverage. Don is survived by his wife, Deborah Martin; son, Don Martin, Jr. (wife, Cara; 3 children, Augustus, Archer, and Monroe); sister, Dianne Morrow (husband, Jerry Don Morrow; daughter, Andrea Potts (husband, Barrett Potts, daughters Kylie, and Lexi) and son, Jeff Morrow (wife, Reagan; their three children, (Gage, Macie, and Naomi).
