It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of our loving mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, and the heart of our family, Dicey Helen Rowden, who passed away peacefully at her home under hospice care on November 2, 2025, at the age of 93.
Dicey was born at home in Parker County on November 15, 1931. She married Charles Rowden in 1947, and together they made their home in Azle, Texas, where they lived until his passing in 1993. Dicey continued to live in their home until her own passing.
She was an incredibly hard worker, employed for twenty-two years at General Dynamics, and she also held positions at David’s Patio and Pangburn’s Candy Company. Alongside her husband, she helped operate their dairy farm—all while raising three children.
A lifelong member of Ash Creek Baptist Church, Dicey was also an active member of the Azle Historical Society. She was a devoted mother, grandmother, and friend whose love and kindness touched all who knew her.
Though she is no longer with us in body, her spirit will forever live in our hearts—guiding us, comforting us, and reminding us to love deeply, laugh often, and work hard for what truly matters, just as she did.
Dicey is survived by her daughter, Christine Sellers, and her son, William “Bill” Rowden and his wife, Debra. She is also survived by her grandsons, R.W. Sellers and wife, Raenelle, Robert Sellers, Roger Sellers, Charles Russell and wife, Cassie, Chad Russell and wife, Jennifer, and Hershell Russell and wife, Sharon; her granddaughter, Delaina Rowden; sixteen great-grandchildren; thirteen great-great-grandchildren; as well as two nephews, a niece, and their families.
She was preceded in death by her beloved husband, Charles Stuart Rowden, with whom she shared forty-seven years of marriage; her parents, William Andrew Davis and Mary Amanda Davis; her daughter, Laura Helen Russell; and her great-grandson, Cody Dean Sellers.
Visitation will be held at White’s Funeral Home in Azle, Texas, on Thursday, November 6, 2025, from 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. Funeral services will take place at Ash Creek Baptist Church on Friday, November 7, 2025, at 2:00 p.m., followed by graveside services at Hoggard-Reynolds Cemetery in Azle, Texas.
