Darrell Mathis Darrell Leon Mathis, 61, passed away in Fort Worth, Texas, December 17, 2020.
He was born June 2, 1959, in Fort Worth to Leon Mathis and Annette Ledbetter Mathis.
Funeral Service: 10:00 AM, Wednesday, December 30, 2020, at Hilltop Family Church, Springtown, Texas.
(Space is available in the Youth Building for the public. The family will be isolated in the chapel for the service.) Interment: Springtown Cemetery following the service.
Darrell was preceded in death by his father.
He attended Springtown ISD for all 12 years and graduated in 1977. Darrell began working at Mathis Radio, a family-owned business in Fort Worth in 1979. Later he went on the staff at Hilltop Family Church in 2004 his role began in the Children’s Ministry moved to the Administrator, Associate Pastor and then Senior Pastor in January 2015.
Darrell was involved in many community functions in Springtown such as the Springtown Ministerial group, Lions Club, SISD School Board, Neighbors-to-Neighbors, Springtown Athletic Booster Club and most recently, Springtown Area Community Connection. Darrell was a man of Principle, Honor, Love, Compassion, Wisdom, Leader, Spiritual Guide, Man of God.
He was a great son, husband, father, grandparent, uncle, Mentor and Friend.
Survivors include his wife, Sheri; children Mark Mathis and wife, Summer of Springtown, Bret Mathis of Missouri City, Texas; Mallory Myers and husband, Rusty of Granbury; eight grandchildren, Taylor, Brock, Carli, Brylie, Brooklyn, Dalton, Jackson and Tatum; mother, Annette Mathis - Springtown; sisters, Debra Cozart and husband Larry - Frisco, Beverly Leatherwood and husband Maynard - Springtown; Brother, Barry Mathis and wife Taressa - Springtown; father and mother-in-law, Bill and Martha Mayo - Springtown; brother-in-laws, Jerry Mayo, Kelly Mayo and wife Lori - both Springtown; many nieces and nephews
In lieu of flowers, the family has requested donations to the Darrell Mathis Memorial Fund, Hilltop Family Church.
