Darlyn Liddell, 85, of Argyle, Texas, passed away peacefully in her sleep of natural causes on Wednesday, November 12, 2025.
Service Details: A graveside funeral and burial service will take place at Memory Gardens of The Valley, 5600 Mineral Wells Highway in Weatherford, Texas on Friday, November 21, 2025 at 11:00 am. Online condolences and special memories may be sent to the Liddell Family at www.whitesfuneral.com. In lieu of flowers, please consider sending a monetary donation to www.donorschoose.org to directly support teachers in the classroom, as Darlyn was passionate about the value of education for the next generation.
Darlyn was born on December 11, 1939 in Weatherford, Texas. She graduated from Weatherford High School in 1958 and attended Weatherford Junior College and then North Texas State University, where she received her Bachelor’s and Master’s degrees in Elementary Education. Upon graduation she started her career as a first-grade teacher. Darlyn worked as a teacher until her children were born and then devoted her career to being a homemaker. She spent most of her adult life in Angleton, Texas where she developed many great friendships. Darlyn felt fortunate to be able to travel extensively throughout her 58 years of marriage to Harold. She most enjoyed serving with her church friends, traveling, cooking, gardening, bragging about her four grandchildren, and playing bridge.
Darlyn loved decorating for the Christmas season and celebrating all that this special day represents. She pursued our Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ, was strong in her faith in Him, and active in church all her life. She was baptized and saved at an early age and would often say that she could not remember a time when she was not drawn to the Lord, His Gospel, and its sanctifying power as aptly described in 2 Corinthians 3:18, “And we all with unveiled face, beholding the glory of the Lord are being transformed into the same image from one degree of glory to another. For this comes from the Lord who is the Spirit”. Darlyn’s place in Heaven is secured for all of eternity, but her absence here is felt by all who knew and loved her.
She is preceded in death by her loving husband of 58 years, Harold Liddell; and her parents, Roy & Nita Brawley.
Left to cherish her memory are her daughter, Monica Matous and her husband, Gaylon; son, Todd Liddell and his wife, Mandi; granddaughters, Jordan Liddell, Reagan Struble, and Ryan Liddell; grandson, Trey Matous; brothers, Nolan Brawley, Ernie Brawley and Don Brawley; and a host of other family and dear friends.
