Christopher “Scott” Grizzard went home to be with his Lord and Savior Saturday, April 11, 2026, surrounded by his loved ones, after a courageous battle with cancer. Scott was born on September 16, 1966, in Kittery, Maine, to Rayford Odwin Grizzard and Annetta Mae Westbrook (Grizzard-Divido).
Scott was a longtime resident of Azle and a graduate of Azle High School. After high school, he attended Universal Technical Institute in Houston, where he earned a degree in automotive technology, he later managed an automotive business in Roanoke, where his knowledge, work ethic, and ability to talk to just about anyone made him well respected.
In his spare time, Scott enjoyed bowling, golfing, fishing, and spending time with family and friends, especially doting on his grandchildren any chance he got. And like any true Texan, he remained a loyal Cowboys fan… even when it required a little extra patience and faith.
Scott was an avid bowler. He bowled in countless leagues and tournaments over the years and, like his father before him, truly loved the game. Up until his illness, you could find him every Tuesday night at Cityview Lanes with his brother and his bowling family. He loved everything about bowling—except, of course, that stubborn 10 pin, which he firmly believed had a personal vendetta against him.
Scott never met a stranger and was a friend to many. Scott was extremely witty with a sincere heart and genuine smile and was the light in every room he entered. If you met Scott for the first time you’d walk away thinking you’d just been with a friend. And you’d know when Scott was joking with you because his lips would turn up into a little mischievous grin.
Growing up, Scott and his older brother, Russell, kept their mother very busy—and that’s putting it lightly. Their adventures ranged from rough housing to things that probably shouldn’t be written in print. How the two survived childhood we’ll never know, but we know their mom has plenty of jewels in her crown after raising those two boys.
Scott married the love of his life, Amanda Wadsworth, on June 22, 2002, in Weatherford, Texas. Together they built a life full of love, laughter, and family—the things that mattered most to Scott.
Scott is survived by his beloved wife, Amanda Grizzard of Azle; his sons, Cory Grizzard (Rayann) of Saginaw and Caleb Grizzard of Azle; his brother, Russell Grizzard (Amy) of Granbury; his sister, Lauren Collyard (Steven) of Mansfield; his granddaughter, Micah; his grandson, Callum; as well as many nieces, nephews, cousins, and countless friends he considered family.
Scott was preceded in death by his parents, Rayford Grizzard and Annetta Divido; his grandparents; his sister-in-law, Deborah “Dede” Grizzard; and his brother-in-law, Michael Wadsworth.
Scott wasn’t one for fuss, so no formal services will be held. If you’d like to honor him, spend time with family, share a laugh, or knock down a few pins in his memory.
