Stephenville

Cheryl “Sherry” Ellen Webb of Stephenville, Texas, passed away on May 15, 2025, surrounded by her loved ones.

Sherry was born on December 12, 1947, in Port Hueneme, Ventura County, California, to Adonis Jonas Pettus (A.J.) and Gwendolyn Edwards Pettus. During her early years, she lived in various places including Southern California, Guam, the Philippines, and Albuquerque, New Mexico. As a teenager, she and her family settled in Texas—a place that became her forever home. In December of 1966, Sherry married Carl Amos Robinson III. During their 19 years of marriage together, they raised two children and shared many meaningful chapters of family life.

In life, Sherry had many talents and hobbies. Sherry’s love of music was evident from a young age. Alongside her sister Watha, she performed as part of the duet “The Pettus Sisters,” entertaining audiences throughout the Dallas–Fort Worth area. They opened for well-known acts and even made an appearance on the Dick Clark show when it visited Dallas.

Although music was a lifelong passion, it was writing and journalism that truly captured Sherry’s heart. She studied photography and journalism at Eastfield College and East Texas State University, later completing her Bachelor of Arts degree in Journalism at California State University in 1982

After moving to Stephenville, Texas, in 1985, Sherry joined the Stephenville Empire-Tribune, where her talent and commitment quickly earned her the role of editor. Driven by an entrepreneurial spirit and a deep passion for the dairy industry, she went on to launch her own publication, The Texas Dairy Review, in 1992.

The Texas Dairy Review grew into a widely respected monthly publication, distributed across Texas, New Mexico, Oklahoma, and Arizona. For nearly four decades, Sherry was a prominent voice in agricultural journalism, known especially for her insightful editorials on legislation, research, and developments in the dairy industry. The publication remained in circulation until 2024.

Sherry touched countless lives with her generosity, intellect, and fierce dedication to truth and storytelling.

She is preceded in death by her beloved parents, A.J. " Rocky" Pettus, and Gwendolyn Edwards-Pettus.

Sherry is survived by her sister, Watha Tucker of Athens, Alabama; her son Carl "Robby” Amos Robinson IV of Stephenville, Texas; her daughter Monica Fox of Fort Worth, Texas; grandsons Garrett Fox and his wife Veronica of Fort Worth, Gage Fox of College Station, and Bradyn Robinson of North Richland Hills, Texas; granddaughters Deni Townsend-Robinson of Denison, Texas, and Quinn Robinson of North Richland Hills, Texas; and two great-granddaughters, Kinlee Daniels and Kashtyn Daniels, also of Denison. She also leaves behind two nieces, many cousins, and numerous cherished friends.

A Celebration of Life in honor of Cheryl (Sherry) Webb will be held at a later date.
