Charlie was born June 9, 1937 in Wewoka, Oklahoma, son of Toy Vernon and Audie Dale (Hill) Self. Charlie worked many years in the oil fields, working his way up to Vice President of Graford Oil Corporation. Later, he and his wife Rose would open North 40 Package store. Following a heart attack, Charlie trusted Jesus as his Lord and Savior and then felt led to transform the Package store into a convenience store and bait shop. Charlie felt the call of God upon his life to provide meals to those less fortunate. Scott Herring would donate a building and Charlie started a ministry known as “Charlie’s Angels”, which would provide meals to those who could not otherwise afford food. Starting with only two meals donated by local restaurants, this ministry would grow to feed over 120 meals, twice a week, totaling over 30,000 total meals fed during the course of Charlie’s ministry. He is preceded in death by his parents; and his wife, Rose Self.
