Carroll
Kennington
Dec 24, 1936 — Aug 25, 2026
Weatherford
Carroll Franklin Kennington, 89, passed away peacefully on Tuesday, August 25, 2026, in Weatherford, Texas.
Carroll was born on Christmas Eve in Karnack, Texas, to Richard and Esther Clemens Kennington. He was affectionately known as “Sonny” by some members of his family, but to many others he was known simply as Ken Kennington.
Carroll proudly served his country in the military. He later worked for Continental Oil Company as a surveyor, which brought him to San Angelo, Texas. It was there that he met the love of his life, Cleopatra Rodriguez. The two married and began their life together in West Texas before later moving to Fort Worth, where they raised their family.
After moving to Fort Worth, Carroll began a long career with the Coors Distributorship as a salesman. He was also involved in building a country-western club and restaurant from the ground up, something he took great pride in.
Carroll had a lifelong interest in history and enjoyed learning about the people, places, and events of the past. He also enjoyed collecting items that had a story or history behind them and was always willing to share what he had learned with others.
He had a special love for New Mexico and enjoyed traveling there with Cleopatra and his daughter, Anna. Those trips became some of the family's favorite memories. Carroll enjoyed traveling, exploring new places, and spending time with the people he loved.
More than anything, Carroll valued his family and the time they shared together. He will be remembered for his curiosity, his stories, his love of history, and the memories he created with those closest to him.
Carroll was preceded in death by his wife, Cleopatra Kennington; his parents, Richard and Esther Kennington; his brothers, Thomas Kennington and Richard Kennington; and his sisters, Lena and Ruth.
He is survived by his children, Anna Kennington-Myers, James Kennington, and Michael Kennington; his grandchildren, Hailey Kennington-Waters, Katherine Kennington-Reed, Emma Myers, Tate Myers, and Blakely Myers; as well as his great-grandchildren, nieces, nephews, and other family members and friends.
Those who loved Carroll will carry his stories forward, ensuring that Carroll's memory remains a part of the family history he valued so dearly.
