Betty Carol Downer Scott

Betty Carol Scott, 93, passed away on Wednesday, February 15, 2023 in Weatherford, Texas. Visitation: 2 – 4 p.m. Saturday February 18, 2023 at Whites Funeral Home, 130 Houston Ave., Weatherford. Graveside Funeral Service: 2 p.m. Tuesday, February 21, 2023 at Memory Gardens of the Valley Memorial Park, 5600 Mineral Wells Hwy., Weatherford. In lieu of flowers the family requests donations be made, in Betty’s name, to the American Cancer Society. Betty was born on December 14, 1929 in Fosston, (Foston) Colorado to Rue E. Downer and Bertha Viola (Horn) Downer. She was a lifelong member of the United Methodist Church. Betty grew up in Meridian, Idaho and graduated from Meridian High School and later earned her Associates Degree from Boise Junior College where she majored in Secretarial Studies. Betty married Howard Zane Scott on June 11, 1949 who had recently graduated from the University of Idaho with a Bachelor’s of Science Degree in Engineering. The couple moved to Weatherford, Texas shortly thereafter where their four children were raised. She is preceded in death by her parents, and more recently by her dear husband, Howard Zane Scott, who passed away on February 10, 2005. Betty is survived by her son, Howard Lon Scott of New Braunfels, Texas; daughters, Marilee Rue (Scott) Bennett of Weatherford, Texas, Alisa Carol (Scott) Shaffer of Parker, Texas, and Althea Eve Scott of Weatherford, Texas; nine grandchildren, Crystal, Melody, Michael, Shannon, Carol, Lacy, Samantha, Scott, and Steven; and sixteen great-grandchildren, Logan, Hayley, Danika, Hudson, Makenna, Mia, Jaxon, Eliana, Benjamin, Zane, Hollis, Stella, Griffon, Hazel, Karis and Grayson.
