Dudley Blevins, Jr. of Fort Worth, Texas, passed away peacefully on Wednesday, January 3, 2024, surrounded by his loving family. His wife of 64 years, Betty Rose (Mullins) Blevins, passed away on Sunday, January 7, 2024, with her family at her side. Dudley was born on August 26, 1937, in Ashland, Kentucky, to Dudley Blevins and Lucille (Stevens) Blevins. He was the second of four children. Betty was born on August 3, 1939, in Magoffin County, Kentucky, to Charles Mullins and Edith (Blanton) Mullins. She was the elder of two children. Dudley attended Boyd County schools, graduating from Boyd County High School in 1956, where he was a basketball star. He continued his education at Morehead State University where he graduated with a Master’s Degree in Education. Betty graduated from Ashland High School in 1957. Dudley and Betty married in 1959. Together they traveled the country for his career with the Federal Bureau of Prisons. He retired as Warden of the Federal Penitentiary at Terre Haute, Indiana, in 1988, and moved to Fort Worth, Texas, where they lived for the remainder of their lives. They had two daughters, four grandchildren, and three great-grandchildren. They are survived by Andrea Lynn Richter (Karl) of Hudson Oaks, Texas, Amy Hyles of Aledo, Texas; Kyle Richter (Lauren) of Shawnee, Oklahoma; Amanda Richter McCreight (Kevin) of Fort Worth, Texas; Zach Hyles of Dallas, Texas; and Jordan Hyles of Aledo, Texas; as well as their great-grandchildren Korey and Lukas Richter and Hayes McCreight. Additionally, Dudley is survived by his sister, Bessie Bowling of Ashland, Kentucky, and several nieces and nephews. The funeral will be a private ceremony with family present.
