Barbara Jean Sandlin Sampson, beloved Mother and Grandmother, passed away quietly in her home on Friday, July 3, 2026.

Memorial Service: 2:00 p.m., Saturday, August 1, 2026 at First Baptist Church in Springtown, Texas.

Inurnment: Springtown Cemetery, Springtown, Texas, immediately following the service.

Barbara was born October 4, 1937 in Fort Worth to Eugene and Ruby Page McKeon.

She married her High School Sweetheart at 16 years of age, Wendell Lee Sandlin on May 27, 1954 and they shared 40 happy years together until his passing on January 3, 1994.

Four sons are left to mourn her passing; James David (Deb), Ronnie Wayne (Debbie), Mark Lee, and Jackie Wendell (Tammy); and her grandchildren, Michelle, Kirk, Dale, Bob, Kittie, and Victoria; and a very special young lady, Haley, who was just like a granddaughter to her. She is also survived by her two sisters, Sharon and Kathy; and one brother; Gene; many great grandchildren, nieces, and nephews. Her sister Gail preceded her in death.

She and Joe Sampson married in 1999 and during their years together, they enjoyed travel and seeing the country. He preceded her in death in 2021. During their marriage, she was welcomed by five step-children, and many step-grand and great grandchildren.

Barbara was a lifelong resident of Springtown. She was a homemaker, however she was also very active in her community and state especially in Texas State 4H, she was also selected to be on the Target 2000 Committee by Texas A& M Board of Regents. For several years she took pride in presiding over the Springtown/Parker County Elections. She was a recipient of many awards and accolades too numerous to list for her service to her community.
