Barbara Sue Rose

October 31, 1948 — January 31, 2021

Barbara Sue Scaling Rose left us suddenly on Sunday morning, January 31, 2021. Visitation will be Wednesday, February 10, 2021 from 6-8 p.m. at White’s Funeral Home in Azle. Service will be Thursday, February 11,2021 at 11a.m. at White's Azle Chapel. Barbara was born in Fort Worth to the late Edgar and Margie Scaling on October 31, 1948, which might explain her love and talent for putting together homemade Halloween costumes. She had a gift for making people laugh and a talent for seeing the funny side of things. She never wanted to be the reason anyone was sad or upset. Barbara made funny films starring many of her Azle friends for a yearly Christmas party at her friend Scottie’s house. She could get people to do anything because they knew it would be funny! She worked in the puppet ministry at Ash Creek Baptist Church for years with her friends Peggy Carpenter and Brenda Price and was still a member of the church where she enjoyed her Sunday School class. Barbara was the widow of Bruce Rose who passed away eight years ago, but their 43 years together were well lived. In their younger years, they enjoyed racing motorcycles in enduro races with their club, The Trailblazers. They also enjoyed hunting, snow skiing, water skiing, and spending time at Lake Granbury. Throughout their lives, they spent summer vacations with their family in Lake City, Colorado where they would Jeep, fish, ride motorcycles, and sight-see. But above all, they were loving grandparents to Daxen Read of Nemo, Texas, and Briggs Rose of Godley, Texas. Barbara traveled to numerous football games, baseball games, and band competitions in all kinds of weather to support her grandsons in their activities, but she was especially proud of their faith and their relationships with God. We loved her dearly, and we are confident we will all see her again. Barbara is survived by her daughter, Christi Read and husband, Randy of Nemo; son, Barry Rose and wife, Mindi of Godley; her two grandsons, Daxen Read and Briggs Rose; cousin, Wilson Scaling and wife Anne of Windthorst; her nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends, and her dog, Sophie.
