Arnold John Farstad

Arnold John Farstad, 91, passed away Tuesday, October 31, 2023 in Weatherford. Private burial at Dallas-Fort Worth National Cemetery. Memorials: In lieu of flowers donations may be made to Wycliffe Bible Translators. www.Wycliffe.org/donate Arnold was born October 19, 1932 in Oslo, Norway, son of Marcus and Olga (Odegaard) Farstad. He came to the United States when he was an infant and grew up in New York and Washington, D.C. Arnold joined the United States Army in 1950 and proudly served his country until he was honorably discharged in 1954. He married Janice Hannah in 1959 and they lived in Washington, D.C. for a year before moving to Boulder, Colorado. They remained in Colorado until 2018 when they moved to Texas. Arnold was a devoted husband and father of four children. Arnold earned a Bachelor’s Degree in electrical engineering from the University of Maryland and a Master’s Degree from the University of Colorado. He worked at Deco Electronics, Westinghouse Corporation, and Johnson Engineering. He also founded EM Technology, which was a mineral exploration company. Arnold was the recipient of numerous awards and patents in his work as an electrical engineer. Arnold served as an elder in his church for many years and was committed to serving the Lord. He taught Sunday School and was an avid student of the Bible. Arnold had many interests and hobbies including fishing, sports, travel, metal-detecting, bluegrass and gospel music. His family and friends always appreciated his positive outlook and gratitude. He is survived by his wife, Janice Farstad; children, David Farstad (Brenda), Debra Meyers (Scott), Eric Farstad (Lori), and Sharon Scanlon (Timothy); grandchildren, Jordyn and Hannah Farstad, Matthew and David Meyers, Ryan Farstad (Kirsten), and Carl Farstad, Stephen and Luke Scanlon, and Lindsay Stuck (Garret); and great-granddaughter, Addison Farstad.
