Ann Holford Mayer-Scaffidi

January 9, 1941 — June 29, 2023

Ann M. H. Mayer-Scaffidi January 9, 1941 - June 29, 2023 Ann Mayer-Scaffidi was surrounded by loved ones as she peacefully passed on to Heaven Thursday, June 29, 2023, at the age of 82. She lived a full life of laughter and love and was deeply devoted to her family and God. Born January 9, 1941, near Pasadena, California, Ann had fond memories of decorating the floats for the Rose Bowl Parade. The family eventually moved to Wisconsin, where at a meeting of fate, she met her future husband, Roger Mayer. Ann and Roger were married shortly thereafter and had an adventurous life with their four sons. They were married for 32 years until Roger’s passing in 1993. She met her second husband, Sam Scaffidi, in Naples, Florida, and they enjoyed 22 years of marriage until his death in 2021. Ann then returned to Texas where she enjoyed frequent visits and outings with her family. We are thankful for the precious time we had together. Ann was known as an accomplished artist, a woman of deep Catholic faith, and an ever-doting mother and grandmother. Her artistic talents entailed many mediums, but her favorite was watercolors, which were often given as gifts and donations for charitable auctions. Her beautiful portrait of Jesus hung by her bedside and was noted by all who entered. She would say she was “Divinely Inspired.” Ann’s great joy in life was having the entire family gathered around the table and the sound of her boys laughing always brought a twinkle to her eyes. The matriarch of the family will truly be missed at the table. Ann is preceded in death by her parents, Francis and Mary Holford; the two loves of her life, Roger Mayer, and Sam Scaffidi; son, Michael Mayer; and newborn daughter, Laura Mayer. She is survived by her beloved sons, Bradley (Catherine) Mayer, Charles (LaDonna) Mayer, and C. David (Heather) Mayer. She delighted in her seven grandchildren, Chase, Mitchell, Seth, Jack, Brooke, Kate, and Noreen. She is survived as well by her brother, Tom (Carolyn) Holford; and sister, Margaret (Caer) Holford. A private ceremony will be held at St. John’s the Evangelist Catholic Church in Naples, Florida, so she can join Roger and Mike in their final resting place. In lieu of flowers, please make donations to Samaritan's Purse at samaritanspurse.org or the Eternal World Network at EWTN, 5817 Old Leeds Road, Irondale, AL 35210 / ewtn.com. Ann absolutely hated goodbyes, so we will say, “Until we meet again.”
