Alice Billings Cox, 95, of Weatherford, went to be with her Lord on Thursday, November 9, 2017. Alice was born on November 11, 1921, in Ripton, Vermont, to Blanche and Jason Billings. She was the youngest of 10 children. She served in the W.A.V.E.S. in Washington, D.C. during World War II. She met and married Darwin Cox of Weatherford while he was stationed in Norfolk, Virginia. They enjoyed 37 wonderful years of marriage until Darwin's death in 1983. He was the love of her life and remained so throughout the years. Alice was a faithful member of Couts Memorial United Methodist Church since 1946 and of the Wesleyan Service Guild. She will be remembered for her generous spirit, sense of humor, and unending kindness to others. Alice was a loving mother and Nana who enjoyed cooking and hosting family holiday celebrations at her home. She will live on in the memories of all those whose lives she touched. Alice was a preceded in death by her parents, 4 brothers, 5 sisters, and the love of her life, Darwin Cox. Survivors: Children, Janice Davis and husband, Wendell, of San Antonio, Gary Cox and wife, Linda, of San Angelo, and Marilyn Hammel and husband, George, of Denton; 11 grandchildren, 24 great-grandchildren, and many nieces and nephews. She was tenderly cared for by loving caregivers, Bobbie Cook, Betty Morris, Emma Rose, and Geraldine Zuehlke. We extend our deepest appreciation to Alpha Omega Hospice for their love and support.
