Thursday, March 4, 2021 at White’s Azle Chapel. Visitation: 6:00 to 8:00 P.M. Wednesday, March 3, 2021 at White’s Funeral Home Hayden was born September 22nd, 1939 to W.T. and Dorothy Hankins. Hayden was raised on a farm outside of Olton Texas. He graduated from Olton High School in 1958. At West Texas State University he earned a Bachelor of Science degree in Art. In June of 1964 he married the love of his life, Gayle Clark. They raised two children, a son Kelly and daughter Darla. Hayden was the definition of a renaissance man, an artist soul with the mind of an engineer. He spent the majority of his working career in various aspects of the petroleum industry. His personality made him perfectly at home talking to old money New England millionaires and the next day with the tool pusher on a drilling ring in the middle of west Texas, making them both feel like they were the most important person in the world. Hayden loved all things mechanical from, the tiny gears in a watch to the 100 ton rotary table that can spin 10,000 feet of drill pipe. He shared his lifelong passion for motorcycles, custom cars, and airplanes with his friends and family. His skills in these pursuits were admired by all. Hayden was preceded in death by his parents; brother, Tom Billy; and sister, Jolene. He is survived by his wife, Gayle; son, Kelly and daughter, Darla; and grandchildren, Kyle, Keith and Silas.
