Arnold D. (A.D.) West, 84, of Azle, TX passed away Sunday, March 12, 2017 after a long battle with cancer.
Graveside service: 11:00 A.M. Wednesday, March 15, 2017 at Azleland Cemetery.
Visitation: 6 to 8 P.M. Tuesday at White's Azle Funeral Home.
Arnold was born to Walter E. & Lucy West in Wallback, WV. He was a Veteran of the Korean War having served in the USAF. His Air Force service took him to Fort Wolters, Mineral Wells, TX where, while on a blind date, he met his wife of 61 years, Carolyn. After leaving the service he worked briefly at Freuhauf Trailers in Ohio before moving back to Texas with his bride. In Texas he worked for the railroad as a switchman for more than 40 years. He loved spending time with family, especially the little kids, gardening and feeding the birds.
He was preceded in death by his parents; brothers, Wilson & Launie; and sister, Dollie.
He is survived by his wife, Carolyn; daughter, Connie (Dan); son, Darrell (Debbie); granddaughters, Christy & Jennifer (Brent); grandsons, Jeremy (Marie) & Jeff; great-grandchildren, James, Miranda, Jacob, Joshua, Tyler, Trevor, Mackenzie; sisters, Inez & Dorothy (Henry); and numerous nieces and nephews.
