Stanford "Pete" Beal Riggs

Stanford Beal "Pete" Riggs, 94, passed away peacefully on Thursday, June 2, 2016.

 Memorial Service: 10:30 a.m. Monday at Iredell First United Methodist Church, Iredell.

 Pete was born February 23, 1922, in Soper, Okla., son of Jessie and Minnie Bell Tidwell Riggs. He spent many happy years with his wife, Ethelda until her passing on January 6, 2016. They loved to travel together to Colorado and New Mexico in their RV and had enjoyed their adventures since the 70's. Pete loved bluegrass music and bluegrass festivals and was a member of the Bluegrass Music Association.

 He was known for his excellent gardening and farming skills and also for cooking delicious ribs and enchiladas. Pete loved to dance and had a little dance with his daughter to lovingly send off Ethelda at her service. He was a faithful member of Iredell United Methodist Church as long as his health allowed. 

Pete was preceded in death by his parents; beloved wife, Ethelda; sons, "Little" Pete Riggs and Donnie Riggs; three sisters; and four brothers.

 Survivors: Daughters, Ellen Allen and husband, Dan, Sandra Bush and husband, Jimmy, Norma Risky and husband, Jim, Ronnie Riggs, Merla Upton and husband, Paul, Paula Little, and Betty Wildman; son, Kenneth Riggs; 12 grandchildren; 20 great-grandchildren; one great great-grandchild; niece, Diana Tutor and husband, Bobby; one great-niece, Brandi Patterson and husband, Jason; three great great-nieces; and many other loving family members and friends.
