WEATHERFORD -- Pop Lane passed away peacefully, surrounded by family on Friday, Nov. 27, 2015 at the age of 99 years, 6 months.
Graveside service: 12:00 p.m. on Wednesday, Dec. 2, 2015 at Muskogee Memorial Park Cemetery in Muskogee, Okla.
"Pop" was born on May 19, 1916 in Meridian. He married Mary in 1940 in Dallas, where they set up house. After Pop served in the Army Air Force, they moved to Odessa and opened an appliance repair shop and an antique store and later, a restaurant. They ran all three very successfully for many years. After their son graduated and joined the Air Force, Pop and Mary sold their businesses and bought a farm in Moran. Pop opened a restaurant and flower shop. "The best burgers in the west". Years later, after Mary passed away, Pop moved to Breckenridge where he lived on the lake, fishing and playing dominoes, two of his favorite things to do. As time passed, Pop came to live with his son and daughter-in-law in Weatherford. While there, Pop spent his time with many friends and family. He was a daily fixture at the Senior Citizens center, visiting and playing dominoes, still driving his car at the young age of 99.
Pop was preceded in death by his wife of 58 years, Mary B. Lane.
Survivors: Son, Robert "Bob" Lane and wife, Adell; grandchildren, Deborah McBee, Brenda Pleasant and husband, Frank, and Robert McBee; five great-grandchildren; and three great great-grandchildren.
