Captain William Daniel Meadors III, USMC Retired, left the field of battle on October 5, 2015.
Inurnment: 11:00 a.m. Thursday, October 15, at Oran Cemetery in Oran, Texas.
A memorial service will not be held.
The family states that this is a casual event, please wear boots, jeans and casual attire.
Memorials: In lieu of flowers, please make donations to Marine Toys for Tots Foundation at www.toysfortots.org.
On his desk, Captain Meadors left two quotations: "...a number of diverse people who ran curiously to type, with drilled shoulders and a bone-deep sunburn, and a tolerant scorn of nearly everything on earth. They were the Leathernecks, the old breed of American regular, regarding the service as home and war an occupation." - Captain John W. Thomason Jr., 1926. The second quotation: "...For those who fight for it, life as a flavor the sheltered never know." -President Theodore Roosevelt.
He loved family and friends, loved a good drink and a fast car.
Survivors: wife of 59 years, Joy; daughters, Theresa and Kelly; grandchildren, Dustin and Sara; great-grandchildren, Kodie and Elye.
