PALO PINTO -- Barbara Ann Wood Thompson went to join her Lord, and husband, Bob, on Monday, February 2, 2015.

Barbara was born December 2, 1937 in Bass River, Cape Cod Mass. to George William and Marian Pearl Varney Wood. In 1952, her family moved to California where she met and married the love of her life, Robert Franklin Thompson. They had three children while Robert made a career of the Navy, and Barbara was mostly a stay at home wife and mother. In 1982, they retired to Palo Pinto where Bob's family was from (the Cantey Bus Station). Shortly after coming back, Barbara went to work at the Palo Pinto County Courthouse in the Tax Office where she did the voter registration among other things until she retired in December of 1999.
Barbara was active in her children's band activities and Robert's Masonic work, especially with the Children's Hospital Fundraisers. She was also Treasurer for the Palo Pinto Methodist Church for many years. Her hobbies were quilting, porcelain doll making, reading and raising orchids.
Barbara was preceded in death by her beloved husband, Bob; her parents; her sister; and her son.
Survivors: son, Lloyd and wife, Karen; daughter, Lucia; 4 grandchildren; 4 great-grandchildren; 3 sisters; 1 brother; 2 brothers-in-law; a sister-in-law; and many nieces and nephews.
