Robert Clyde Myers

May 30, 1942 — January 31, 2013

ALEDO -- Robert C. (Bob) Myers, 70, passed away Thursday, January 31, 2013 at a Dallas hospital. Memorial Service: 11 a.m. Wednesday at North Side Baptist Church, 910 N. Main St., Weatherford Visitation: 5 - 7 p.m. Tuesday at Central Christian Church, 1602 S. Main St., Weatherford Bob was born May 30, 1942 in Baltimore, MD to Dr. Clyde and Cora Myers. Bob grew up in Cotulla with his sisters, Ann and Mary Sue and numerous cousins. He was a member of the rodeo team and excelled in football and basketball. On July 18, 1969, Bob married his lovely bride, Shirley Chesshir in Corpus Christi, where they lived until 1979. Bob and Shirley were blessed with two children, daughter, Shanan and son, Ryan. It was in 1979 that Bob's long time friend, Don Chrestman, called and encouraged the family to move to Weatherford and work for Southland Royalty Company in Fort Worth. That is where he had the pleasure of being hired by Bob Simpson, who later played a pivotal role in his life. Bob worked for Southland until it was bought out by Meridian Oil, where he stayed on until 1996. That is when he was hired again by Bob Simpson to be Vice President of Human Resources at Cross Timbers Oil, which became XTO Energy. It was there where he worked with some of his dearest and most respected friends. Bob loved XTO and its employees with all of his heart, and he showed it with his endless devotion to them. He was an excellent mentor to so many; some professionally, some through faith and many just in life. He touched so many lives. Bob retired from XTO in 2006 and became a full time rancher in Jacksboro and Camargo, OK. He was an elder at Central Christian Church in Weatherford, a church that he loved and meant so much to him. Bob was a devoted husband to a wife that he adored, and he was the greatest father that two kids could have ever asked for in a parent. He was also a very proud grandparent of six grandkids. He will be missed by so many, but he will never be forgotten. Bob was preceded in death by his parents, Clyde and Cora Myers, and sisters, Ann Johnson and Mary Sue Myers. He is survived by his wife, Shirley Myers; daughter, Shanan Myers Richard, and husband, Allan, of Dallas; son, Ryan and wife, Jeannie, of Weatherford; nieces, Laura Black, Rebecca Obenhaus, and Karen Moseley; grandchildren, Olivia and Philip Richard of Dallas, Kaylee and Kole Parsons, and Landrey and Lake Myers of Weatherford.
