WEATHERFORD -- Dorothy Cowan, 83, passed away Monday, Feb. 25, 2013, in Weatherford. Funeral: 2 p.m. Thursday at First United Methodist Church, 301 S. Main St., Weatherford. Interment: Memory Gardens of the Valley, 5600 Mineral Wells Hwy., Weatherford. Visitation: 6 to 8 p.m. Wednesday at White's Funeral Home, 130 Houston Ave., Weatherford. Memorials: In lieu of usual remembrances, the Cowan family suggests contributions in Dorothy's memory to American Cancer Society, P.O. Box 22718, Oklahoma City, Okla. 73123-1718. Dorothy Jeanette Cowan was born May 1, 1929, in Lubbock, daughter of the late Clarence and Pansy Evelyn Clinton Symes. She was a 1945 graduate of Abilene High School and married Les Cowan on July 27, 1949. Dorothy graduated with a bachelor's degree from McMurry University and Southwest Texas State University with a master's degree. She taught at Weatherford High School with Les, who was a football coach, from 1977 to 1986, when she retired. Dorothy was a member of Parker County Retired Teachers Association and was a 35 year member of First United Methodist Church of Weatherford. She was also a member of the Keystone Class at church. Dorothy was preceded in death by her husband, Leslie Lowden "Les" Cowan on March 9, 1979; her parents; two brothers; and one sister. Survivors: Sons, Leslie Cowan and wife, Charlou, of Cross Plains, Robert Cowan and wife, Kathy, of Katy, and William Cowan and wife, Cheryl, of Weatherford; grandchildren, Shauna Guerrero and Michael Cowan and wife, April, all of Cross Plains, Candi Revere and husband, Randall, Nici Jessett and husband, Nick, all of Katy, Brooke Rodriguez and husband, Beau, of Tomball, and Katelyn Cowan and Will Cowan of Weatherford; great-grandchildren, Cheyenne and Hannah Cowan, Isaiah and Samuel Guerrero, C.J. and Alex Jessett, Sebastian Cowan, Rylan and Riley Revere, and Marcus Rodriguez; and a host of loving friends and church family.White's Funeral HomeWeatherford, 817-596-4811
