WEATHERFORD -- Mary Joan McLaughlin Stokes, 69, passed away Saturday, March 30 in Fort Worth. Service: 3 p.m. Wednesday, April 3, 2013 at White's Chapel of Memories, 130 Houston Avenue, Weatherford. In 1972, Joanie married the love of her life, George Stokes, in Mineral Wells. She became a dedicated homemaker caring for everyone around her. She was an accomplished painter, loved to garden and do beautiful needlework. Joanie was involved in the community through memberships in the 20th Century Club, Weatherford Adopt a Country Road project, Weatherford Historical Preservation Committee, Weatherford Garden Club, and a supporter of the Pythian Home. Joanie was preceded in death by her parents, Major Boston and Zelma Louise McLaughlin; sister, Clara Dobias; and brother, Taylor Jeff McLaughlin. Survivors: husband, George Stokes of Weatherford; daughter, Paige Stokes of Fort Worth; son, Victor Craig Stokes and wife, Jennifer Lynn; brother, Tom McLaughlin and wife, Ann of Weatherford; grandchildren, Morgan Mikelle DeLaCruz; Kimber Rae Phillips and husband, William, Tyler Craig Stokes and wife, Kim, Michael Brian Stokes, and Brenden TJ Hall-Grassmann; great-grandchildren, Alyssa and Levi Stokes; and nephew, Christopher Dobias.
