James W. Hutcheson, 80, a long time Springtown resident passed away April 15, 2013 after a year long illness. Service: 2pm, Friday, April 19 at White's Funeral Home in Springtown. Interment will follow in the Springtown Cemetery. Visitation is 6 to 8 Thursday at the funeral home. James was born March 12, 1933 in Springtown to A.J. "Kaiser" Hutcheson and Ellen Morrow Hutcheson. After graduating Springtown High School he entered the Air Force during the Korean Conflict. Upon leaving the service he became a machinist and worked for Lockheed Martin for 51 years. At a young age he developed a passion for hunting and went on to become an accomplished Big Game hunter, harvesting 29 different big game species of North America and over 150 deer. He was 264th in the world to get a Grand Slam of North American wild sheep and was recipient of the prestigious Outstanding Hunter Achievement Award from the Dallas Safari Club. Earlier this year he was awarded the Grand Slam Ovis Clubs Super 25 North American Award. James was preceded in death by his parents and wife of 45 years, Vernie. Survivors: son, Jimmy Hutcheson and numerous cousins and friends.
