WEATHERFORD -- Mary Elizabeth Tracy Waggoner Watkins, beloved wife, mother, Nana and friend to many, started on a stairway to Heaven Tuesday, May 7, 2013, at a local nursing center. Memorial service: 2:30 p.m. Monday in White's Chapel of Memories, 130 Houston Ave., Weatherford. Mary was born on June 14, 1927, to the late James C. and Erma Laura Littenberger-Tracy, in Mound City, Missouri. She graduated from Mound City High in 1945 and immediately started cosmetology school. Prior to finishing school, she married Art Waggoner and together they had two children. The family moved to Fontana, Calif. where she served as PTA President at South Tammarend Grammar School. In 1952, they moved to Sacramento where she finished out her career as a dental assistant to children's dentists. She was a great cook and loved preparing special dishes for holidays and events. In July 1979, she married Norris Watkins and moved to Mineral Wells where they were members of the Holiday Hills Golf Club. Mary, or "Lil' Mary," was known for her uncanny ability to sink a putt and loved to play 7's every week with the ladies club. She worked in her yard, often to the detriment of the lawn mowers which she seemed to break running over rocks or whatever was in her path. She also was a member of the Round Robins, a little club of her friends and high school mates who wrote their memories, for over 62 years until she just couldn't write anymore. She loved life, family and company that would visit. She was loved by all who knew her and will be sorely missed. Mary has been in the care of Crescent Senior care, Integra Care and most recently, Alpha Omega Hospice. The family wishes to extend their sincere appreciation for the love, tenderness and compassion shown during this difficult time.
