WEATHERFORD -- Norma Bean, 78, passed away Monday, May 13, 2013, surrounded by family in Weatherford. Funeral: 1 p.m. Friday in White's Chapel of Memories, 130 Houston Ave., Weatherford. Interment: Memory Gardens of the Valley. Visitation: 6 to 8 p.m. Thursday at White's Funeral Home. Norma LaVerne Burford Bean was born Aug. 18, 1934, in Overton, daughter of the late Jesse Perry and Cora LaVerne Johnson Burford. She married Aaron Eugene Bean in Laird Hill on Aug. 25, 1954, and they reared two daughters. Norma taught school for more than 30 years in Plaquemines Parish, La., at Boothville-Venice High School, Seaway Elementary, River Oaks Academy and Belle Chasse High School. As a member of Kappa Kappa Iota, Norma held various local offices before she was elected to statewide office. During her tenure, she was Louisiana state president of Kappa Kappa Iota. Norma graduated with the class of 1952 from Leverett's Chapel High School and then attended Kilgore Junior College where she played in the Marching and Jazz Bands. After junior college, she graduated from Sam Houston State University. Norma attended Victory Baptist Church. Norma was preceded in death by her parents; and sister, Cora Cecile Burford. Survivors: Lovingly known as "Grammy," she will be fondly remembered by her husband, Aaron E. Bean of Weatherford; two daughters, Donna Kaye Brown and husband, Danny, of Bush, La., and Pamela Cousins and husband, Steve, of Weatherford; two granddaughters, Misty Spiers and husband, Jason, of Mounds View, Minn., and Stephanie Barnett and fiance, Ryan Irwin, of Weatherford; one grandson, Steven Cousins and wife, Connie, of Weatherford; great-grandchildren, Jacob, Ferin, Dylan, Camden, Kyley, Makayla, Jadyn, Xander, Steven and Austin; and a host of loving friends.White's Funeral HomeWeatherford, 817-596-4811
