Ardith Lorene Porter Horne

June 5, 1928 — May 17, 2013

WEATHERFORD -- Ardith Lorene Porter Horne, 84, passed away on Friday, May 17, 2013. Memorial service: 2 p.m. Tuesday at White's Chapel of Memories, 130 Houston Avenue, Weatherford, 76086. Memorials: In lieu of flowers, please donate to the charity of your choice in Ardith's memory. Ardith was born and raised in Pueblo, Colorado and graduated from the University of Colorado in Boulder. Soon after graduation, she married Bud Horne, the boy who dipped her pigtails in the inkwell in kindergarten. He served as a decorated veteran as she selflessly raised their children. She later found her niche at the TCU Bookstore. Ardith deeply loved her husband and family and lived a life of service to them. She had the unfading beauty of a quiet, gentle spirit, a content heart, and a kindness to all. Ardith was the beloved wife of the late Lt. Col. Kenneth E. "Bud" Horne, daughter of the late Mytle Ann Yarberry and Albert Dixon Porter, and sister of the late Marie Mergler, Thelma Lee Henderson, and Albert Porter. The family wants to express their heartfelt gratitude to those the Lord used to love Ardith, affectionately known as "Grammy." You have been like family and have richly blessed her, as well as us all! Survivors: son, Curtis Dixon Horne and wife, Jamie, of Pearland; daughter, Susan H. Minnich and husband, Rick, of Weatherford; grandchildren, Ricky and Nathan Minnich and Kailey and Eli Horne.White's Funeral HomeWeatherford, 817-596-4811
