O. B. Jordan, 97, passed away Sunday, May 19, 2013, in Fort Worth. Graveside Service:10:30 A.M. Wednesday at Greenwood Cemetery in Fort Worth with Vaughn Baker of Silver Creek United Methodist Church officiating. Visitation: 6 to 8 PM Tuesday at White's Funeral Home in Azle. O. B. Jordan was born on May 15, 1916 in Dallas, TX and was the only child of Oscar B. and Beryl Jordan. They moved to Fort Worth about 1930 where he graduated from Central High School in 1935. During the early "30s he delivered telegrams for Western Union throughout the city of Fort Worth by bicycle. In the late '30s and early "40s he worked in the shoe department at Everybody's Department Store. He married Geraldine (Jerry) Tucker of the Silver Creek community on June 7, 1941 and they lived in Fort Worth until he joined the Army in August of 1942. He served with the 59th Quartermaster Sales Company as a commissary steward in the European Theater. After his return from WWII, O. B. and Jerry made their home in Azle for the remainder of their lives. He was a long time member and served as Chief of the Azle Volunteer Fire Department. In the 1950's he worked as a tool designer for Bell Helicopter, and at Convair, now Lockheed, in Fort Worth. He was proud to have designed a part of the B-58 as well as the tools necessary to produce the part. Later, he operated an appliance repair service in Azle for several years before he started a machine shop that he operated from his home on Main Street for many years. After working as a substitute for several years, he carried a rural mail route full time for the Azle Post Office from which he retired in the 1980's. As a retirement job, he raised cattle on the family's Silver Creek farm for a few years before a drought forced him out of the cattle business. O. B. was a member of Azle Masonic Lodge 601 and was presented with his 65 year pin in July of 2012. He was preceded in death by his parents; and wife, Jerry. Survivors include his daughter, Joan Campbell and husband, Leon; grandsons, Bryan Campbell and wife, Britney, Kevin Campbell and wife, Chris; and great-grandchildren, Lindsay, Quinn, Mackenzie and Kailey Campbell
