B. Aileen "Mommadoo" McNiel, 85, of Lakeside Texas, entered into eternal peace on May 19, 2013 surrounded by her family. A private graveside service will be held on May 23, 2013 at Springtown Cemetery. Visitation: 6 to 8 P.M. Wednesday at White's Azle Funeral Home. Aileen was born in Pecos on June 16, 1927, daughter of the late John Hugh and Pearl Teague Barnes. She graduated from Arlington Heights High School in 1944 and was the wife of USAF veteran Earl Weldon McNiel, Sr for 47 years until his death in May, 1998. As a spouse of a career military serviceman, at many times she became the surrogate head of the household while her husband served at home and overseas. At the drop of a hat she was able to successfully transport and provide a loving home for her children in numerous locations, even in the frozen tundra of North Dakota. She was a lover of classical and religious music and anything her children or grandchildren were involved in. She was a woman of faith who cherished her fellowship with other church members. She regularly donated to charitable organizations close to her heart.The family would like to express their heartfelt gratitude to the staff at Mansfield Nursing and Rehabilitation for their excellent care of our mother. Aileen is survived by her brother, Jack Barnes and wife, Ruth of Fort Worth; twin sister, Coleen Edwards of Fort Worth; daughter, Carrie Jo (Angie) Fowler and husband, Greg of Alvarad;, son, Earl Weldon McNiel, Jr and wife, Becky of Lubbock; daughter, Brenda Coleen Maler of Hutto; son, Michael Gene McNiel and wife, Phyllis of Keller; along with numerous nieces, nephews, grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
