FORT WORTH -- Dan Bowden, 76, passed away Monday, May 27, 2013, in Fort Worth. Funeral: 10 a.m. Monday at First United Methodist Church, 301 S. Main St., Weatherford. Interment: Oakland Cemetery. Visitation: 6 to 8 p.m. Sunday at White's Funeral Home, 130 Houston Ave., Weatherford. Memorials: In lieu of usual remembrances, the Bowden family suggests contributions in Dan's memory to Parkinson's Support Group of Tarrant County, P.O. Box 939, Hurst, Texas 76053 or First Baptist Church of Aledo Cambodia Mission Trip, 128 Elm Street, Aledo, Texas 76008. Dan Bowden was born Feb. 18, 1937, in Weatherford, son of the late Edgar and Emmie Jim Bowden of the W.H. Bowden and Sons Department Store. He graduated with the class of 1955 from Weatherford High School and was inducted into the Weatherford High School Athletic Hall of Fame. Dan received a bachelor's degree from SMU in 1959, where he played on the SMU Mustangs football team that included Don Meredith. He made his career in insurance sales and investments and had served as president of both the SMU Lettermen's Association and Alto Lakes Golf and Country Club in Ruidoso, N.M. Dan was a member of Ridglea Country Club. Dan loved his family and especially loved attending his grandchildren's sporting events. Dan was preceded in death by his parents. Survivors: Sons, Rusty Bowden and wife, Trina, of Crowley, Bobby Bowden and wife, Mary Jane, of Millsap, Mark Bowden of Chicago, Ill., and Brett Bowden and wife, Cyndee, of Aledo; grandchildren, Cody, Bo, Coleman, Ty, Haylee, and Meredith Bowden; sister, Patricia Bane of Weatherford; nephew, Chris Bane and wife, Mandi, and their son, Hunter, of Weatherford; and a host of loving family and friends including step-children, Will Stripling, Kristen Stripling, and Trey Hopkins; and step-grandson, Jack Hopkins.White's Funeral HomeWeatherford, 817-596-4811
