Belva Lynn Humphrey

August 24, 1943 — June 1, 2013

FORT WORTH -- Belva Lynn Humphrey, 69, beloved mother, grandmother and sister, passed away on Saturday, June 1, 2013. Graveside Service: 10:00 a.m. Tuesday, June 4, 2013 at East Greenwood Cemetery, Weatherford. Belva Lynn Smith was born August 24, 1943 to Bill and Belva Smith in Rotan. She met and married Robert Dee Humphrey and they raised their two children together. Lynn was raised in Weatherford, never went to college but excelled at everything she did. She worked as a Fashion Buyer, Interior Designer, a writer and editor for a magazine on Okinawa. Lynn was an excellent cook, an amazing event planner and a dedicated wife and mother. If asked, she would say that she was most proud of her association with the "River Rats." The Red River Pilots Associaton is a national organization comprised of former and active military pilots and navigators. Lynn reactivated the Dallas/Fort Worth "Rat Pack" and was instrumental in organizing social events and keeping historical records for the group. She loved the organization, and through it she was able to stay in contact with those who flew with Bob. She will be missed by all of them. Lynn Humphrey was of the firm belief that "you can do anything you put your mind to". She lived by that philosophy and was evidence of its truth. Her strength and endurance have served as inspiration for all who had the privilege of being part of her life. Lynn was preceded in death by her husband, Robert Dee Humphrey; and her parents, Bill and Belva Smith. Survivors: Daughter, Laura L. Watson of The Woodlands; son, David Humphrey and wife, Lisa, of Honey Grove; grandsons, Nicholas Stewart, Christopher Stewart, Mitchell Johnston and Trey Watson; brothers, Mac Smith and wife, Janice, of Weatherford, Brock Smith and wife, Angela, of Decatur and Brent Smith of Weatherford.
